nursing negligence

i’m still in high school, but i’d like to become a nurse, specializing in pediatrics. i can handle the gruesome stuff and accept that death will be a big part of the job.
however, i recently talked to a friend’s sister, who is a nurse, but hates her job. she said that all you do is clean up people’s crap, and that office politics is absolutely brutal (she told me a story about some other nurse’s negligence costing a life then marking it down as a “natural death.” ) she also told me that if something happens to the patient, it’ll be mostly the nurse’s fault because they’re supposed to be fully informed about the patient’s history and everything, even if it was due to medication the doctor’s prescribed.
i thought part of the “good” thing about being a nurse was that it wouldn’t be their responsibility because they’re only carrying out the doctor’s orders..
so now i’m beginning to question everything..
i mean, there’s depressing stuff, watching kids die..but doesn’t the good outweigh the bad? you’re helping to heal some of these people too…
but if you do it day in and day out….
would it just get tirelessly depressing and boring??
i’ve wanted to become a nurse ever since my little brother stayed at sick kids hospital, if i don’t do this..i’m not sure what else i can do..
what do you think?

Example would not be a life or death situation but a case of prioritization and giving them their meds a little behind schedule.

nursing negligence

I am currently in a custody/visitation dispute. We have temporary orders for visitation and joint legal custody. I have sole physical. We had 3 joint visitations to re-acclimate my son with his father (who disappeared for 4 months after filing suit). My child is still nursing every 2 hours, and it occasionally coincides with visitation as he is not on a strict schedule. His father gets really annoyed when I have to nurse our child during visitation and pretty much keeps telling me I have to figure out a way to get him to eat just before visitation or else he won’t eat. He as much as told me he’d keep the 2 hour long visitation and would not bring our son back to eat unless I agreed to give him extra time with him (90 mins travel time for round trip plus 30 minutes feeding time). I feel this amount of time is unreasonable, as his total visitation is supposed to be 4 hours, and i don’t feel that travel should be “free time”.

If he were to not bring him back when he knew he needed to
eat, could/would that be considered negligence?
um, why don’t you lactate and try feeding a baby every 2 hours and then try to also get supplemental meals from your breasts? i HAVE a breast pump and i HAVE tried pumping, so much so i gave myself clogged milk ducts and i still only got a total of 1.5 ounces from pumping for 2 1/2 weeks.

nursing negligence

This is about the lady who died of water poisoning from the contest. The news said the dj’s were warned more than once and even by a nurse that the stunt could be deadly. Due to their negligence, I think they should, but that is just my opinion.

nursing negligence

A man was seriously injured in a car accident, severely damaging his legs. As soon as the emergency room doctor examined him, he knew the one of the man’s legs must be amputated. He was taken to surgery, where, due to an administrative error, the good leg was amputated. The mistake was discovered while the man was in the recovery room, so he was taken back into surgery and the bad leg also amputated.
When the man found out what had happened from a nurse who was present during the entire procedure, the man decided to sue the doctor and the hospital. He consulted the best attorney in town, who, after going over the man’s claim, advised him against seeking damages.
“What,” the man exclaimed, “this is the most clear cut case of outright negligence I have ever heard of.”
“That may be true,” the lawyer replied, “but frankly you don’t have a leg to stand on.”

nursing negligence

If a person has no money or insurance but is clearly dying, and the nurses, doctors, and hospital refuses to treat the person, and the patient dies, should these people (1) lose their licenses and (2) be charged with homicide, or negligence (3) should the hospital lose its funding.

Or should we consider a doctor or hospital like any other business? Should hospitals and doctors follow the “we’re here to make money and you need to pay to get service” attitude?

This is what happened at M.L.K. hospital in Los Angeles.
Isn’t medicine primarily about saving lives? What do you think?

nursing negligence

My 7 week old 6 week premature daughter died on halloween. On the 29th I had called her doctor and told her my daughter had a fever of 99.7 she had diarrhea and vomiting her doctor told me to take her to the emergency room. We did and when we got there they prety much did nothing but take her temp her vitals give her some tylenol and discharged me with instructions to alternate tylenol& motrin& keep her uncovered or lightly.I saw the doctor only once she came in listened to her chest said she sounded fine then some people said the mental health clinic wanted to speak with her.She left saying she would be back & gave instructions to the nurse to take a urine sample. She never came back. the nurse tried to get a urine sample in a bag but the diarrhea contaminated the sample. she said she would see what the doctor wanted to do about it then she came back and discharged me. she died the next night.I feel like it was negligence on there part they should have had more concern for an 8lb baby
